A British grandmother, Lisa Di Palma, 61, tragically lost her life in Fethiye, Turkey, on August 6, 2025, after being struck twice by a speeding car. Her husband, Keith, recounted the horrific incident at an inquest, detailing his desperate attempts to shield his wife from the vehicle after the initial impact. The driver, allegedly four times the legal drink-drive limit in Turkey, hit Mrs. Di Palma, propelling her several meters. Despite efforts to intervene, the driver then accelerated again towards her, a situation Mr. Di Palma tried with all his strength to prevent.
Mrs. Di Palma sustained catastrophic injuries, including pelvic, hip, and skull fractures, along with multiple broken ribs and internal bleeding. She underwent multiple hospital transfers and planned surgeries. Tragically, she passed away a week after the collision. The driver, Senay Koparal, is scheduled for a criminal trial in Turkey later this year. The family has since established the Lisa Di Palma Foundation to support underprivileged children in sports, honoring her legacy.
