Rescue crews, assisted by local volunteers and aerial support, conducted a three-day operation. Mr. Aspden, a cook on Outback stations, was found deceased just after 10:30 AM on Monday, April 6th, 2026. Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The Cooper Creek system, where the incident occurred, is experiencing widespread flooding. This area is known for its complex and free-flowing desert river system, regularly experiencing floods. Innamincka itself is situated over 1000km north of Adelaide and near the Queensland border.
