Summary
- A water bottle reportedly jammed the bus brakes, causing the fatal accident.
- A 45-year-old woman and her 12-year-old niece were killed instantly.
- The driver was arrested, and the bus was seized by police.

Tragedy struck Ghaziabad's Mohan Nagar junction on Thursday afternoon when a UP Roadways bus struck and killed a woman and her niece. The victims, identified as 45-year-old Sarvesh and her 12-year-old niece Kushi, were reportedly crossing the busy road when the bus, en route to Bulandshahr, failed to stop.
Investigators suggest a water bottle, dislodged near the driver's feet, jammed the brake pedal. The driver, Dinesh Kumar, has been arrested and the bus impounded. Locals expressed outrage, vandalizing the bus at the scene.
This incident highlights the dangers of jaywalking in the area, despite the presence of a footbridge. The victims were on their way to a family wedding in Bulandshahr when they met their untimely end.
In a separate, unrelated incident on GT Road, a 46-year-old woman was killed and her husband injured when a truck hit their motorcycle. Police have arrested the truck driver.
