- Over 100 houses collapsed, leaving residents displaced.

A severe dike breach occurred near Xihu village in Putian, Fujian province, on Thursday afternoon after days of intense rainfall from Typhoon Saudel. The breach caused floodwaters to spill into adjacent villages and industrial areas, resulting in the collapse of more than 100 houses and reports of missing individuals. As of Friday noon, rescue operations were underway to relocate affected residents, with 171 people from 52 households already moved to safety. Emergency shelters have been established, and crews are working to clear floodwaters from affected areas.
The local meteorological authority has maintained its highest Level I rainstorm warning, forecasting continued torrential downpours throughout Friday and scattered showers into the following week. This event follows recent flooding in other parts of Fujian, including Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Ningde, and Putian, also linked to typhoons Gaenari and Saudel. In response to the widespread devastation, the National Development and Reform Commission has released 100 million yuan ($14.86 million) in emergency funding to aid in recovery and restoration efforts.
