A tragic sledding accident in Frisco on Sunday resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl and left another critically injured. Emergency services responded to the scene just before 3 p.m. on a residential street. Both teenagers were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries, but one succumbed to her injuries.
A preliminary investigation suggests a 16-year-old boy was driving a Jeep and pulling the two girls on a sled. Reports indicate the sled hit a curb before colliding with a tree. Authorities have stated that the identities of the juveniles involved will not be released.
The victim was identified by her mother on social media as Elizabeth Angle, a sophomore at Wakeland High School who was active in soccer. Her mother described her as a "bright light" and a "brave soul." This incident highlights the dangers of winter weather, as a recent storm brought heavy snow and ice to North Texas, creating hazardous road conditions.
