A devastating accident in Punjab's Bathinda district resulted in the deaths of four inmates from a drug de-addiction centre in Haryana. The fatalities occurred on Sunday when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned and collided with a tree near Sandoha village.
The victims have been identified as Balpreet Singh from Barnala district and Harpreet Singh, Gursimran Singh, and Jashandeep Singh, all from Mansa district. Balpreet Singh had recently returned from a two-and-a-half-year stay in the UK before being admitted to the facility.
Police have registered a case against the centre owners, Ranjit Singh and Arun Kumar, along with an unidentified individual. The complaint was filed by Sukhwinder Singh, father of Balpreet Singh, who alleged that the owners illegally dispatched patients not in a fit state of mind on an errand to bring another addict, Amandeep Singh. The accident happened on the return journey.
Amandeep Singh, the individual they were sent to retrieve, suffered minor injuries. The case has been registered under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and authorities are actively searching for the suspects. Police stated that raids are underway to arrest the accused.
