Ex-Santosh Trophy Star Dies in Tragic Coimbatore Accident

A former professional footballer, Aseem Koraliyadan, aged 45, tragically died in a road accident in Coimbatore on Wednesday night. Koraliyadan, who had represented Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra in the Santosh Trophy, was working as a Customs Inspector at Coimbatore International Airport. He was on his way to the airport for his night shift duty when the incident occurred.
The accident took place around 10:30 p.m. on Avinashi Road. According to police reports, Koraliyadan slowed his scooter near the airport junction, and a truck approaching from behind struck his vehicle. He was immediately transported to a nearby private hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased.
The Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW East) registered a case, and the driver of the truck, identified as Dinesh from Sulur, was arrested. Following a post-mortem examination, Koraliyadan's body was released to his family. The former footballer hailed from Areekode in Malappuram district and had an extensive career, playing for prominent clubs and representing the U-21 Kerala team.
