Leisure Firm Faces Sentencing Over Player's Death

Parkwood Community Leisure Ltd is set to be sentenced over the death of Albert Xhediku, who was electrocuted in 2016. The company, which operated the pitch, has indicated a guilty plea to a health and safety offense. Sentencing is scheduled for June 16. The incident occurred on January 17, 2016, when Mr. Xhediku, a taxi driver, climbed a fence to retrieve the ball and touched a floodlight, resulting in the fatal shock. His friends also experienced electric shocks attempting to help him. The Health and Safety Executive had charged the firm in November 2025 with failing to ensure public safety. Mr. Xhediku was remembered by his family as someone who approached everything with great passion.
