Fife Water Main Bursts, 1000 Homes Cut Off

A major water main rupture in Kennoway, Fife, has led to a severe disruption, impacting water supplies to around 1,000 homes. The incident, which occurred on Friday afternoon, has necessitated continuous repair efforts by a dedicated team from Scottish Water.

The repair is proving to be a complex operation, taking longer than initially anticipated. To facilitate the work, specialist equipment, including large capacity pumps, is being deployed to clear a substantial volume of surface water. Scottish Water has confirmed that bottled water has been distributed and will continue to be provided, prioritizing customers on their Priority Services Register.

Further measures include organizing multiple tankers to augment existing supplies. A temporary overland pipe is set to be implemented to reintegrate water into the network while the damaged main is isolated for permanent repair. Scottish Water has apologized for the inconvenience, thanked customers for their patience, and committed to restoring normal supplies swiftly.
