Jose Fernando Partida, 57, passed away on January 10, over a week after a devastating workplace accident at Gowan Milling in Yuma, Arizona. The incident occurred on January 4 when Partida was cleaning a large industrial chemical mixer. A colleague inadvertently started the machine, trapping Partida inside for five hours. Emergency services, requiring hazmat suits due to the dangerous materials handled at the plant, conducted a complex extrication. Partida was hospitalized with critical injuries including broken ribs, a broken leg and arm, and severe bruising.
His son, Omar Partida, shared the immense suffering his father endured during those five hours, expressing that he did not deserve such a painful end. Gowan Milling has committed to safety and is cooperating with ongoing investigations by the Industrial Commission of Arizona, a process expected to take several months.
