Fatal Crash Near Vacaville: Woman Struck by SUV

A fatal collision occurred on Monday night near Vacaville, claiming the life of a 67-year-old woman. The incident took place on Pleasant Valley Road, west of the city, around 8:30 p.m. The woman had reportedly pulled her vehicle onto the right shoulder, turned on her hazard lights, and then exited her car.

While she was on the west side of the road, she was struck by a southbound SUV. Emergency services, including Cal Fire and Vacaville firefighters, responded quickly. Despite their lifesaving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the California Highway Patrol investigation. He showed no signs of impairment. The cause of the crash, particularly the woman's decision to exit her vehicle, remains under investigation.
