Dangerous Driving Videos Linked to Fatal Crash

A tragic fatal crash in Middlesbrough has brought to light a disturbing trend of dangerous driving displayed on social media platforms. BBC Verify has identified numerous videos circulating online, featuring high-speed pursuits, driving on sidewalks, and navigating roads on the wrong side. Disturbingly, at least one of the young individuals who lost their life in the collision appears in multiple such videos, highlighting a potential link between online content and real-world consequences.

TikTok's community guidelines prohibit content that could lead to physical harm, and the company has taken action by removing videos flagged by BBC Verify. In response to the incident, Cleveland Police have launched a comprehensive investigation. This probe aims to uncover criminality that occurred leading up to the fatal crash. Authorities have stated that there is no current evidence suggesting the filming of these dangerous activities was done specifically for TikTok.
