According to police reports, Ponomarenko, a 41-year-old construction worker, was driving home from the gym when his vehicle was struck by a Porsche that allegedly disregarded a red light on Victory Boulevard. The impact was severe, leading to Ponomarenko's death at the scene. The 35-year-old driver of the Porsche sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, with authorities seeking witnesses.

Salarova, now alone in the United States, is grappling with immense grief and financial burdens, including funeral expenses and the outstanding loan on their vehicle, which was destroyed in the collision.
