A devastating head-on collision on the A48 near Bonvilston resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including the driver who was found to be under the influence of cocaine. Scott Jeffery, 34, lost his life along with his passengers, Lawrence Howells, 51, and Barrie John, 48.
The incident occurred just before 5pm on April 1, 2025, when Mr. Jeffery's Ford Puma collided with an oncoming lorry. An inquest held at Pontypridd coroners' court determined that Mr. Jeffery's use of the Class A substance played a role in the fatal crash.
Mr. Jeffery, originally from Pontypridd, resided in Brackla, Bridgend, and was unemployed at the time of his death. Mr. Howells was from Porthcawl, and Mr. John was from Ferndale.
