A fatal hit-and-run collision occurred Wednesday night on East Woodlawn Road in south Charlotte, resulting in multiple felony charges for a 22-year-old driver. The incident led to the death of 34-year-old Kyle Alan Kubiak, who was pronounced deceased at the scene after being struck by a vehicle.

Authorities report that Jared Isai Rodriguez was driving eastbound on East Woodlawn Road near Nations Crossing Drive when he hit Kubiak as the pedestrian attempted to cross. Rodriguez failed to stop and continued, subsequently running a red light at Old Pineville Road.

At that intersection, Rodriguez's vehicle collided with another car. An observing officer identified Rodriguez as the driver. He was screened for impairment and found to be under the influence.

Rodriguez was arrested and transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. He faces charges including felony death by vehicle, felony hit and run, and reckless driving. The victim's next of kin has been notified.
