Woman Dies After Being Hit by Car in East Yorkshire

An elderly woman, aged 81, has died following a serious collision in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The incident took place on Friday evening around 19:40 GMT on Norwood, near the junction with Mill Lane. She was transported to the hospital with critical injuries and sadly passed away on Saturday evening.
A 21-year-old man was apprehended at the site of the collision. He was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and causing serious injury through careless driving. The police confirmed he has since been released pending the outcome of their ongoing inquiries.
Specially trained officers are providing support to the deceased woman's family during this difficult time. Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or possess any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the vicinity at the time of the collision to come forward.
