Man Dies After Car and Van Collision Early Saturday

A tragic collision on the A500 in Newcastle-under-Lyme resulted in the death of a man early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 04:35 GMT, involved a grey Jaguar and a white MAN lorry. Staffordshire Police were called to the scene near junction 16 following reports of a serious collision.

Tragically, the driver of the car, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is currently receiving support from specialist officers. In response to the incident, the southbound lanes of the A500 have been closed by National Highways to facilitate investigations.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have been travelling in the area at the time of the collision.
