A police officer and his daughters are being celebrated for their bravery after rescuing a man from drowning at sea. West Mercia PC Shaun Lyle, along with his teenage daughters Macey and Poppy, were on holiday last August near Treyarnon Bay in Cornwall when they spotted a man in severe distress. The man, in his 70s, was caught in a dangerous rip current and was struggling to stay afloat.
Witnessing the man's head disappearing under the water and seeing the absolute fear in his eyes, PC Lyle and his daughters immediately swam to his aid. They worked together to get the man back to the safety of the shore. The man expressed his profound gratitude, stating he thought he was going to drown. The Royal Humane Society has since awarded all three with certificates of commendation for their life-saving efforts.
