Family of Four Dies After Eating Watermelon
27 Apr
Summary
- A family of four died from suspected food poisoning.
- Symptoms included vomiting and giddiness after consuming watermelon.
- Tests are underway to confirm watermelon as the cause of death.

A tragic incident has led to the deaths of a family of four, identified as Abdullah (40), his wife Nasrin (35), and their daughters Zainab (13) and Ayesha (16). The family began experiencing severe symptoms of vomiting and giddiness shortly after consuming watermelon. They were first taken to a private hospital, but their condition rapidly deteriorated, necessitating a transfer to JJ Hospital. Sadly, all four members succumbed to their illness on Sunday, with Abdullah being the last to pass away.
Prima facie evidence suggests food poisoning originating from the watermelon consumed by the family. Officials noted that individuals who only ate a pilav dish did not experience any adverse health effects. The half-eaten watermelon has been sent for laboratory testing, and samples from the deceased have also been collected for further investigation, including a histopathology report. A case of accidental death has been registered as the probe continues.
