13 Mar
Summary
- Three workers died after entering a sludge tank.
- Toxic gas accumulation reportedly caused the deaths.
- Investigation launched into alleged lack of safety equipment.

Tragically, three workers perished around 12:30 pm on March 13, 2026, while cleaning a sludge tank at Lalji Wala Mills. The men, identified as Gumana Ram (30), Shravan Lal (25), and Vishambhar Das (54), reportedly entered the tank where toxic gas had accumulated, causing them to lose consciousness.
Colleagues discovered the collapsed workers and attempted a rescue, but all three were declared dead upon arrival at the Government Nahata District Hospital. The incident prompted a protest by family members and locals outside the hospital mortuary, demanding accountability from factory management.
Local officials, including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Deputy Superintendent of Police, visited the factory and hospital to investigate. Preliminary findings point to the inhalation of toxic gas as the cause of death. Authorities are examining whether the workers were provided with adequate safety equipment, a critical concern given the circumstances.
