Electric Snow Thrower Recall: Shock Hazard!
27 Oct
Summary
- Over 37,000 electric snow throwers recalled due to shock hazard.
- Power cords may break in extreme cold, posing injury risk.
- Home Hardware offers full refund upon product destruction.

An urgent recall has been issued for over 37,000 Benchmark-branded electric snow throwers sold at Home Hardware stores across Canada. The affected units, model number YF6022, pose an electric shock hazard because their power cables may break when exposed to extreme cold.
As of October 5, 2026, Home Hardware had received 19 reports of broken power cords in Canada, though no injuries have been reported. The units were sold between November 2020 and May 2026. Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the product.
Customers should contact Home Hardware for instructions on how to safely destroy the snow thrower. Upon completion, they will receive a full refund. Canada's Consumer Product Safety Act strictly prohibits the redistribution or resale of recalled products.
