Elderly Cyclist Fatally Struck by Speeding Motorbike

A devastating accident on Kondayampetti Service Road in Trichy has resulted in the death of an 83-year-old cyclist. T Balu Periyannan, a resident of Thiruvanaikovil, was riding his bicycle around 12:30 AM on Friday when a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction collided with him. The impact caused severe head injuries, leading to his admission to Trichy Govt Hospital. Unfortunately, Periyannan passed away early Sunday morning without responding to treatment.

Following a complaint lodged by the deceased's son, Elangovan, the police have initiated a case against the unidentified motorcycle rider. The charges include rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence, under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the fatal collision.
