Edgewater Homes Flooded After Heavy Rains and High Tides
11 Oct
Summary
- Approximately 30 homes flooded in Edgewater on October 10th
- Intense rainfall combined with saturated ground and high tide caused flooding
- City workers used pumps and vacuum trucks to clear stormwater

According to a report released on October 11th, 2025, the city of Edgewater experienced significant flooding on October 10th after being drenched with 7 inches of rain and hit by unusually high tides. The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning, and the heavy rainfall combined with already-saturated ground and a King Tide - an especially high tide during a full moon - led to the flooding.
The high tide reduced the drainage capacity and efficiency of Edgewater's stormwater system, causing water to inundate approximately 30 homes in the city. City employees across all departments worked together to minimize the effects, using large pumps and vacuum trucks to clear inlets, canals, culverts, and swales. However, multiple roadways remained flooded, mainly concentrated within the Florida Shores and surrounding low-lying areas.
As of the evening of October 10th, several roads were still closed due to standing water, and the city advised drivers to use caution and avoid driving through flooded areas. Numerous properties reported water intrusion, and the city set up a link for residents to report any issues. Residents were also reminded that the flooding may persist or worsen with additional rainfall or continued high tides in the coming days.
