A tragic incident occurred in Sanpada on September 15 when an LPG cylinder leakage at an eatery triggered a powerful blast. The explosion resulted in severe burn injuries for two brothers who operated the establishment. Sadly, one of the injured, identified as Arjun Yadav, aged 46, passed away on Friday at the National Burns hospital in Airoli. He had sustained critical injuries covering 92% of his body and was on ventilator support.
The other brother, Manish Yadav, aged 26, suffered 42% burn injuries. His family opted to take him home against medical advice for continued treatment in Rajasthan. The blast's intensity caused considerable damage, affecting three shops, including the eatery, and also impacting three neighbouring shops. The glass facade of Suraj hospital, located approximately 50 feet away, was shattered, and internal damage was noted within the hospital premises, though no patients or staff were harmed.
Following Arjun Yadav's demise, Rabale police have conducted an inquest and will register an accidental death case. The incident highlights the dangers of LPG cylinder leaks and the severe consequences they can have.
