Summary

- Farmer Jon Sharp described seeing his investment rotting underwater as soul-destroying.

Landowners and farmers in East Yorkshire are calling on the Environment Agency (EA) for enhanced protection as they assess the significant financial impact of recent flooding.
The village of Leven suffered severe flooding on December 1st. Water from Holderness Drain breached the village, leading to dozens of homes narrowly escaping inundation. The situation left agricultural land submerged for over two weeks.
Farmer Jon Sharp voiced his deep dismay, stating that seeing his investment for the upcoming harvest rotting under water was soul-destroying. While the EA acknowledged an operational issue with the Holderness Drain pumping station caused the flooding, they confirmed the problem has since been rectified.
