Seeking urgent help, the dog sitter stopped at a Campton-Thornton fire station. Firefighter Paul Spring and first responder Mark Roland quickly intervened. Roland applied pressure to the wound, while Spring fashioned a makeshift tourniquet using gauze to control the bleeding.
Following the critical first aid, Ziggy was transported to a local animal hospital. There, he underwent several hours of surgery to repair a severed artery, tendons, and nerves. Medical professionals confirmed that without the prompt and skilled actions of Spring and Roland, Ziggy would have succumbed to blood loss.
