Lucky Dog Gets Second Chance Thanks to Firefighters

A dog named Ziggy is on the path to recovery after a near-fatal accident last month in New Hampshire. The incident occurred when Ziggy, playing outdoors, sustained a severe leg injury from a solar light hidden beneath the snow. His dog sitter immediately recognized the gravity of the situation as Ziggy began bleeding heavily.

Seeking urgent help, the dog sitter stopped at a Campton-Thornton fire station. Firefighter Paul Spring and first responder Mark Roland quickly intervened. Roland applied pressure to the wound, while Spring fashioned a makeshift tourniquet using gauze to control the bleeding.

Following the critical first aid, Ziggy was transported to a local animal hospital. There, he underwent several hours of surgery to repair a severed artery, tendons, and nerves. Medical professionals confirmed that without the prompt and skilled actions of Spring and Roland, Ziggy would have succumbed to blood loss.

Ziggy and his owners have expressed immense gratitude to the firefighters, especially Paul Spring, for their life-saving efforts. The fire department shared heartwarming images of Ziggy showing his appreciation, bandage and all, indicating a full recovery is expected for the brave pup.
