Dr. Kanike Priyanka, an MD student specializing in Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology (DVL), tragically passed away following a severe accident on August 3rd. The incident occurred near a mall in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, when a car, allegedly driven by intoxicated individuals, rammed into the two-wheeler she was traveling on with a friend. Dr. Priyanka suffered critical head injuries and was admitted to KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad for advanced care.
She was declared brain-dead on August 9th. Her post-mortem was completed at Gandhi Hospital on August 10th, and her body was then transported to her native village, Eklaspur in Jogulamba Gadwal district, for her final rites. The medical fraternity, including the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA) and the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), has voiced strong demands for immediate arrests and stringent legal action against those responsible. They are advocating for a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation, urging authorities to preserve all evidence and ensure maximum punishment for the accused.
