Tragedy struck near Chengalmedu on Sunday when a family's motorcycle was struck by a speeding pickup truck, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The victims, identified as K Arunkumar, 40, and his elder son Thirugnanam, 13, were declared dead at the scene.

Arunkumar, an employee of the postal department, was travelling with his two sons when the accident occurred. The pickup truck driver reportedly fled the scene without stopping, leaving the critically injured younger son, 8-year-old Draupadi Sakthi, behind. Police have initiated a case against the unknown driver.

Draupadi Sakthi was rushed to the Dharmapuri Govt Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition. The Krishnapuram police are actively investigating the incident and searching for the driver involved in the fatal collision.
