A climbing guide, Audrie Pelosi, 30, died after an approximate 150-foot fall at Devil's Lake State Park. The incident occurred on May 30, as Pelosi was setting up anchors for a top-rope climb near the Hawk's Nest area.
Her two coworkers, working on the opposite side of a rock outcropping, did not witness the fall. They discovered her unresponsive at the base of the bluff and called 911. Emergency crews attempted resuscitation, but Pelosi was pronounced deceased.
A toxicology report later indicated only caffeine in her system. Pelosi's death marks the third fatal fall at Devil's Lake since October 2025, following incidents involving Caden Michael Brunner in July and Peter Cleveland in October 2025.
