A deputy from the Weld County Sheriff's Office is continuing his recovery nearly six months after a suspected drunk driver collided with his patrol car. The incident occurred on February 1, when the deputy was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 25. He was inside his vehicle when the suspect's car crashed into the back, pushing his patrol car into another vehicle and rolling the suspect's car.
Suffering multiple injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, the deputy has been unable to work since the crash. His wife expressed gratitude for his survival but detailed how their lives have been permanently changed, with his condition varying daily. The family is facing approximately 48% less income due to his inability to work, and there is uncertainty about his return to law enforcement.
The deputy's 17-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle during the crash and sustained injuries, though she has since healed. The MC1 Foundation is organizing a fundraiser on Friday, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the American Legion in Windsor, to provide support for the Bailey family.
