Summary
- Typhoon Fung-wong made landfall with 115 mph winds, forcing 1.4M evacuations

On November 6th, 2025, Super Typhoon Fung-wong made landfall in northeastern Aurora province in the Philippines, packing sustained winds of up to 185 kph (115 mph) and gusts of up to 230 kph (143 mph). The powerful storm forced more than 1.4 million people to evacuate to emergency shelters or relatives' homes before it struck.
The typhoon claimed at least two lives, with one person drowning in flash floods and a 64-year-old woman killed when she was pinned by debris while attempting to evacuate. Over 1,000 houses were damaged, and roads were blocked by landslides as the destructive winds battered northern and central Luzon. Entire provinces lost power, and more than 200 millimeters of rainfall brought widespread flooding and landslides.
As of November 10th, authorities continue rescue and relief operations, clearing blocked roads and assessing the damage. The typhoon has weakened as it moved through mountainous northern provinces and agricultural plains, and is now expected to head northwest towards Taiwan, where it is forecast to make landfall on Thursday before rapidly weakening.
