Deadly Blaze Engulfs Family Home in Bihar, Leaves Devastation

On the early morning of November 12th, 2025, a devastating fire broke out in a family home in the Motipur Nagar Parishad area of Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. The blaze, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, rapidly engulfed the third floor of the house where the victims were sleeping, turning a peaceful slumber into a scene of unimaginable horror.
Five members of the family, including Lalan Kumar Shah (35), his wife Pooja Kumari (30), their daughter Srishti (7), son Golu (2), and Lalan's mother Sushila Devi (65), tragically lost their lives in the fire. An additional five people, including Lalan's brother Arjun Kumar (30), maternal uncle Lal Babu Prasad (60), Lal Babu's wife Pushpa Devi (50), their daughter Sakshi, and relative Mala Devi (40), suffered over 80% burns and were rushed to the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Following the incident, a crowd gathered nearby, and panic spread through the area. Police and fire brigade teams quickly responded to the scene and brought the fire under control. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
The devastating loss of life and the critical injuries sustained by the survivors have left the community in Muzaffarpur deeply shaken. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and the need for vigilance in preventing such devastating incidents.
