Deadly Dumper Crash Kills 13 in Jaipur, Driver Arrested for Drunk Driving

On November 2nd, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Jaipur when a speeding dumper driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into over 17 other vehicles, resulting in the deaths of 13 people and injuring several others. The driver, Kalyan Meena, was immediately arrested and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Meena was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He had confessed to having consumed liquor twice on the day of the incident, once before leaving home and again near Benar Road, just before the crash.
The impact of the speeding dumper was so severe that several of the vehicles were crushed beyond recognition, leaving a scene of mangled cars, bikes, and bodies scattered across nearly 1.5 kilometers. The Jaipur police initially reported 14 fatalities, but later clarified that the final death toll stood at 13 after one of the victims was found to have been involved in a separate road accident.
In response to the tragedy, the Jaipur Police Commissioner, Sachin Mittal, convened a high-level meeting with senior officers to assess the city's traffic management framework and identify areas that need improvement. The authorities have vowed to intensify checks for drunk driving and speeding, particularly in high-risk areas and along major arterial roads, in an effort to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
