Dartmoor Rescue: Girl Freed After 3 Hours Trapped

A delicate rescue operation successfully freed a young girl who became trapped beneath rocks at Hound Tor, a well-known Dartmoor beauty spot. The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when the child slipped while navigating a narrow tunnel, resulting in her leg becoming wedged between stones.

Emergency services were swiftly mobilized, with firefighters from Bovey Tracey arriving to assess the situation. A multi-agency response was coordinated, involving Dartmoor Search and Rescue, paramedics, a hazardous area response team, and cave rescue specialists. The Devon Air Ambulance was also on standby.

Despite challenging hot and difficult conditions, the rescue teams worked diligently for over three hours to safely extricate the girl. She was ultimately freed with only minor bumps and scratches and received immediate medical attention from ambulance crews at the scene.
