As Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Arnab approaches, the Department of Health has mobilized extensive resources, including 6,431 emergency beds and 630 medical teams. Health officials have reviewed these preparedness measures, ensuring essential supplies like 13,101 doses of anti-snake venom are readily available.
Significant logistical arrangements are in place, with 716 vehicles, including ambulances and mobile medical units, on standby. A key concern addressed is the welfare of expectant mothers; 1,075 pregnant women identified as high-risk have been transferred to hospitals to guarantee safe deliveries and prompt medical attention.
To ensure continuous healthcare services, hospitals are equipped with generators for uninterrupted power. Measures to prevent water contamination, such as distributing chlorine tablets, are being implemented. The department is also enhancing disease surveillance to mitigate post-cyclone outbreaks from contaminated food, water, or insect vectors.
Furthermore, the Real Time Governance Society has launched the Mana Mitra WhatsApp platform for citizens to report emergencies and local issues, facilitating swift responses from authorities to cyclone-related problems.
