Netaji Subhash Marg Reopens, Reviving Delhi's Commercial Heartbeat

On November 12th, 2025, a blast near Red Fort in Delhi led to the closure of Netaji Subhash Marg, a vital north-south thoroughfare in the city's historic walled area. The road, which connects several heritage sites, hospitals, and commercial hubs, had remained shut for four days, causing significant disruption to commuters, traders, and delivery networks.

However, on November 16th, 2025, the Delhi Traffic Police officially reopened the road for public use, offering much-needed relief to the affected areas. The shutdown had taken a heavy toll on businesses, with many traders reporting a nearly 50% drop in sales as customers stopped visiting and workers struggled to reach their workplaces.

Sanjay Bhargava, the president of the Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal, expressed his relief, stating that the detours and travel time had doubled during the closure. However, he also raised concerns about the persistent issue of encroachments, which had already started choking the road in front of the Red Fort.
