- Rescue teams killed a large crocodile containing human remains, including arms.

In South Africa, the remains of missing hotel owner Gabriel Batista were recovered from inside a large crocodile. Batista, 59, disappeared after being swept away by strong floodwaters in the Komati River, a known crocodile habitat. Authorities suspected a reptile attack due to the river's predator population.
Search teams located an unusually large and inactive crocodile near the riverbank. Suspecting it had recently fed, officials obtained permission to kill the animal. A police officer was airlifted onto the reptile, estimated to weigh over 1,000 pounds and measure 15 feet, to secure it for extraction.
Dissection revealed human body parts, including severed arms and a rib cage, within the crocodile's stomach. A ring found on one finger is undergoing forensic testing for identification with Batista. Authorities are also examining multiple pairs of shoes found inside the animal for potential links to other missing persons.
Investigators are working to determine if Batista drowned before the attack or was killed directly by the crocodile. The incident highlights the dangers of wildlife in flood-affected areas with predator populations, and authorities are considering further investigations into other crocodiles.
