County Durham Farm Crash: Two Boys Critical, Police Vandalism Investigated
23 Dec
Summary
- Two boys critically injured after a tractor overturned on a farm.
- Police car tires were slashed while officers aided injured youths.
- A criminal damage investigation was launched following the incident.

In County Durham, a farm accident has resulted in severe injuries for two schoolboys. A 14-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries, and a 13-year-old suffered serious injuries when a tractor overturned on a farm near Burnopfield. Both were transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle and remained hospitalized as of the report.
Compounding the emergency response, a police car present at the scene had all four of its tires deliberately slashed. Officers, who had administered first aid to the injured teenagers, discovered the vandalism upon returning to their vehicle. This criminal damage incident has led to a separate investigation, significantly impacting police resources and delaying the initial collision inquiry.
Authorities are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the accident or were in the vicinity of the farm off the B6310 around 8:25 PM on December 21st. Information regarding both the collision and the criminal damage is being sought by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
