29 Sep
Summary
- A climber was rendered unconscious by a falling rock on Bear Mountain.
- Remote rescue efforts were complicated by the water-access-only location.

On Sunday, a climber suffered a serious injury on Bear Mountain in the Haliburton Highlands after being struck by a falling rock. The incident occurred as the climber was descending the popular mountain. The impact caused the individual to lose consciousness.
Rescue operations presented significant challenges due to Bear Mountain's remote, water-access-only nature. Emergency responders utilized a boat to reach the scene, carrying police and paramedics. Subsequently, an air ambulance was required to transport the injured climber to a trauma centre in the Toronto area.
Haliburton Highlands OPP are actively seeking witnesses who may have been present in the Bear Mountain area around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.
