A young girl, aged 12, is in critical condition after a severe electrocution incident in Navahermosa, near Toledo, Spain. The accident occurred on Monday evening when the child attempted to scale an electricity pylon to capture photographs for social media.
While climbing, she made contact with a power line, receiving a massive 30,000-volt shock. This electrocution left her suspended from the pylon. Emergency services were alerted at 6:46 PM.
Firefighters from Talavera de la Reina responded promptly, ensuring the power supply was cut off before initiating a rescue. They used an aerial ladder to safely lower the girl.
Paramedics provided initial treatment at the scene before the child was transferred to La Paz University Hospital in Madrid. She remains in a very serious condition.
Authorities have issued a stern warning about the growing trend of dangerous social media challenges. They stressed that no photograph or online content justifies risking one's life, noting that even indirect contact with power lines can be fatal.
