A 9-year-old boy has died following an incident at a summer camp in Virginia. The child, identified as King Overton, was pulled unresponsive from a pool at Swim RVA on Monday, June 15, around 2:30 p.m. Staff immediately performed CPR until emergency medical services arrived at the Henrico County location.
Paramedics transported King to a local hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased. His mother described him as having the "biggest heart." Swim RVA has stated they are fully cooperating with police during the ongoing investigation into the boy's death and extended their deepest sympathies to the family.
The Henrico County Division of Fire is using this tragedy to emphasize water safety, promoting their "Splash Smart Henrico!" initiative. A water safety event is scheduled for July 18, 2026, at the Henrico County Eastern Recreation Center.
