4-Year-Old Critical After Kennebunk Hotel Pool Near-Drowning

A young girl, aged 4, is currently in critical condition after a near-drowning incident at a Kennebunk hotel pool on Saturday, June 20. Emergency services were dispatched to the Hampton Inn at approximately 9:30 a.m. upon receiving reports of a child who was not breathing. Firefighters arrived quickly and found the child in cardiac arrest, initiating immediate and extensive resuscitation efforts. The child was then transported by ambulance to MaineHealth Biddeford and subsequently flown by medical helicopter to MaineHealth Portland for continued treatment. Kennebunk Fire Rescue has stated that the incident is under review. No further personal information about the child or her family will be released. The department took the opportunity to remind the public about important pool safety measures for families.
