Two villagers in Chandrapur district have died in separate tiger attacks occurring less than 12 hours apart. The recent fatalities underscore the intensifying human-wildlife conflict in the region.
On Saturday morning, Sunita Shamrao Bhoyar, 45, was attacked by a tiger while harvesting cotton in Somnath. The animal emerged from nearby bushes and mauled her, with witnesses raising an alarm forcing its retreat. Sadly, Bhoyar died at the scene.
Less than 12 hours prior, on Friday evening, Kashinath Shivram Lonbale, 60, was killed by a tiger in the Padmapur beat of Moharli forest range. Lonbale was collecting firewood near a forest stream when the attack occurred.
Authorities have intensified patrolling and installed camera traps in vulnerable areas to monitor tiger movements. These two deaths bring the total to six human fatalities from predator attacks in Chandrapur district this year, including five from tigers and one from a leopard.
