Boy Seriously Injured After Falling Off Moving Carnival Ride

A 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries on Sunday, June 7, after falling from a moving carnival ride in Butte, Montana. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. local time at a pop-up carnival held in the Butte Civic Center parking lot. The boy was reportedly riding the Yoyo attraction when he fell. Authorities immediately shut down the ride and suspended all carnival operations pending an investigation. The condition of the teen is currently unknown. The carnival operator, Midway West Amusements, has previously been associated with controversy. In 2021, the company's former owner was charged with human trafficking. Montana does not have statewide oversight for carnival rides, though recent legislation requires certifications from qualified inspectors.
