A vehicle crashed into the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) on Friday, January 23rd, around 7:30 p.m. local time. The car entered the terminal and impacted a ticket counter.
Six people received medical treatment at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody by airport police. The reason for the crash remains under investigation.
Eyewitness accounts and video footage suggest the driver, possibly wearing a Detroit Lions jersey, was yelling incoherently as security intervened. Officials are reportedly considering a mental episode as a possible cause. Delta Airlines confirmed no operational impact and that three employees were checked after encountering debris, though no injuries were reported by the airline.
