- One passenger died on the spot, with over 30 sustaining injuries.
- Overspeeding and the tyre burst are considered the primary causes of the accident.
A severe accident occurred near Sarai Piparia village around 12:30 am when a bus traveling from Khaga to Ludhiana experienced a tyre burst. The sudden failure caused the driver to lose control of the sleeper coach, leading to a catastrophic overturn that crossed the expressway's divider. The bus fell onto the opposite lane, trapping passengers within the wreckage. One passenger was confirmed dead at the scene, and over 30 others sustained injuries. Authorities were promptly on the scene, launching a rescue operation by breaking windows and cutting through seats to free trapped individuals. The injured were transported to nearby health centers and the district hospital. Six passengers remain in critical condition and have been referred to a hospital in Bareilly for specialized care. Initial findings indicate that excessive speed combined with the tyre malfunction likely precipitated the crash.
