A devastating bungee-jumping incident in Limeira, São Paulo, on Saturday, June 11, 2026, claimed the life of Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, a 21-year-old woman. Eyewitnesses reported that staff at the event, organized by Entre Cordas, allegedly failed to secure Freitas with a safety rope before pushing her off the 'Skeleton Bridge.' She fell approximately 130 feet into a ravine, and medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Video footage surfaced online showing two men carrying Freitas onto the platform and then shoving her over the edge, while bystanders yelled that she was not attached to a rope. Local reports indicate that event organizers reportedly fled the scene shortly after the fall. Authorities, with the assistance of a police helicopter, apprehended six individuals connected to the event, including five men and one woman. The Civil Police department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and will determine if charges will be filed against the arrested suspects.
