Two brothers, identified as Ramzi and Temo Al-Shurman, lost their lives in a plane crash on May 7 near Ridgecrest, California. The incident occurred on Bureau of Land Management property and resulted in the ignition of the Canyon Fire.
The crash near the El Paso Mountains Wilderness area triggered a significant wildfire. CAL FIRE reported that the blaze grew from approximately 100 acres to nearly 800 acres within minutes, eventually consuming over 2,200 acres. The fire's rapid spread was attributed to challenging access and dry desert vegetation.
