A Jet2 flight en route from Turkey to Manchester experienced extreme disruption, forcing an emergency diversion to Brussels due to a severe passenger brawl. The altercation reportedly began when one passenger, exhibiting abnormal behavior possibly due to alcohol, loudly asked others about listening to music and subsequently became aggressive towards cabin crew.
The situation escalated when the same passenger allegedly asked teenage brothers for cigarettes and then hurled verbal abuse at their mother. The situation intensified significantly when the passenger allegedly made racist remarks, including calling another passenger a 'Muslim mug'. This triggered widespread shouting and fighting among passengers.
Footage captured the chaotic scenes, showing passengers screaming, wrestling in the aisle, and fighting. Cabin crew attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the brawl reportedly left blood on seats and caused significant distress. Upon landing in Brussels, police took two individuals into custody. The pilot described the incident as one of the most violent he had witnessed in his career.
