7 Jan
Summary
- A 49-year-old British skier died in Claviere, Italy, from cardiac arrest.
- Emergency services attempted resuscitation but were unsuccessful on the slope.
- This follows a recent death of a 24-year-old British skier in the French Alps.

A British skier has tragically passed away in Italy after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest on January 4. The 49-year-old was skiing in the Claviere resort in the Italian Alps when the medical emergency occurred. Emergency responders and a regional air rescue medical team were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Despite their best efforts to resuscitate the man on the slopes, he was pronounced deceased. His body was subsequently transported to a hospital in Susa. This unfortunate event marks the second recent fatality involving a British skier in the Alpine region, following the death of a 24-year-old in the French Alps last month.
The earlier incident in Les Arcs 2000 involved a skier who fell after losing his footing on a steep off-piste slope. Resort managers have since urged caution on hazardous slopes, particularly when snow conditions increase risk.
